Installing Painted Body Side Moldings on Your VehicleBody side molding isn’t just a way to keep nicks out of your car doors. It also looks sleek and sporty on the side of your car. Affordable changes like this can set your car or truck apart from the rest. You want to make sure you install the body side molding correctly. Otherwise, you’ll end up with uneven molding that can make your car look dented (exactly what you’re trying to avoid). Here are some tips on installing your body side molding properly.
Preparation Tools you’ll need: Tape Measure Masking Tape Grease Pencil Clean Soft Towel
Installation - Clean the surface where you’ll be installing the body side molding.
- Check the installation sheet that comes with the kit to ensure proper measurements.
- Make two marks with the grease pencil to indicate where the molding will begin and end along the side of your car.
- Connect the marks using masking tape.
- Clean the surface again with the alcohol pads included in the kit.
- Repeat all of these steps on the other side of the vehicle.
Along the line of masking tape, apply a thin layer of the Pro-Bond adhesive that comes with your moldings kit to both sides of the car. The installation sheet will give you the correct molding start points. Peel just the edges of the liner that are attached to the molding, then place the molding along the masking tape line gently, removing the liner that is underneath. Using a soft cloth, wipe down firmly to make sure the molding sticks.
And last - enjoy your new moldings!!!!!
